The Raiders have a lack of talent problem that can’t be solved with a one or two year plan. They need a minimum of four years and hope that their high-talent draftees in recent years won’t be enticed to leave in free agency once their rookie contracts are up.
Let’s break down this by position:
Quarterback: Geno has been turning the ball over at an alarming rate. Why he hasn’t lost the starting job I’ll never understand.
Running back: Jeanty has been a bright spot, although last game he had zero impact
Receivers: Bowers’ knee injury has really crippled the offense and the other receivers are fertilizer.
Offensive line: Kolton has been out, rendering the line garbage
Defense: Other than Mad Max, who continues to be outstanding, the defense has been playing like they belong in NCAA Division II.
Special Teams: Not so special.
Coaching and Executives: Do they even understand what they are trying to do? It takes talent, especially at QB and O-Line, to be even a .500 team. They have done a poor job of this and continue to find themselves to be a pee on in the league. It’s been like this for most of the past quarter of a century and will keep being this way until they recognize what they need to succeed.
